Olopatadine is an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of itching or watery eyes.

Olopatadine is a relatively selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist and inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. It shares many of the pharmacologic effects of mast cell stabilisers.

Remove contact lenses prior to admin. Reinsert soft contact lenses 10 min after admin. Pregnancy, lactation.

Allergic Conjunctivitis
Adult: As 0.1% solution: 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) bid at an interval of 6-8 hours. Alternatively, as a 0.2% solution: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily.
Child: ≥3 years: As 0.1% solution: 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) bid at an interval of 6-8 hours. Alternatively, as a 0.2% solution: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily.

Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Olopatadine and Children

Safety and effectiveness in children younger than 3 years of age are not established (ophthalmic); safety and effectiveness in children younger than 12 years of age not established (intranasal).

Olopatadine and Geriatic

No differences in safety or effectiveness observed; however, use caution in dose selection, reflecting the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, and of concomitant disease or other drug therapy.
