Eberconazole, an anti-fungal drug, is indicated for the treatment of pityriasis, candidiasis and dermatophytoses. Eberconazole is effective against gram-positive bacteria and fights against cutaneous mycoses and secondary infections.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug exerts fungistatic and fungicidal properties depending on the drug concentration. Eberconazole inhibits fungal growth by inhibiting lanosterol 14α-demethylase enzyme associated with ergosterol biosynthesis. The biochemical is vital for the maintenance of fungal cytoplasm. Higher concentration of Eberconazole cause cellular leakage with loss of ions, inorganic phosphate, nucleotides and amino acids. Eberconazole exert anti-inflammatory property by inhibition of 5-lipooxygenase and cyclooxygenase-2.
